Veronica Soriano Receives 5-Year Sentence in Evidence Tampering Case After Son’s Death

A woman from Lago Vista has been sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of tampering with evidence related to her son’s death in 2023, according to Travis County court records.

Veronica Soriano, 36, was found guilty on November 12 of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair a human corpse. The case stems from the March 2023 death of her 16-year-old son, as outlined in a Travis County affidavit.

Soriano was sentenced to serve five years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility, with 198 days of jail credit — equivalent to just over six months — applied to her sentence.
